About Abdul Tubman

Financial Professional
& Cultural Strategist.

Abdul Tubman is a Financial Professional & Cultural Strategist focused on generational wealth. His work integrates structured financial planning, community empowerment, thought leadership, and cultural production — all in service of helping individuals and families build, protect, and transfer wealth intentionally.

As a Financial Professional with New York Life, Abdul helps clients design comprehensive wealth strategies rooted in protection, asset growth, estate planning, and business continuity. He is also Director of Operations for the C.O.R.N.E.R.S. Community in Stamford, Connecticut, where he leads initiatives focused on mentorship, education, and long-term economic development.

Abdul has been recognized for his leadership and service with multiple honors, including proclamations from the City of White Plains, Westchester County, and the New York State Senate, collectively establishing “Abdul Tubman Day.”

He is also a strategic partner in a national collaboration with the New Solutions Network, working to expand access to financial literacy, behavioral-science-based coaching, and community empowerment programs across academic and community settings.

Beyond financial services, Abdul extends the generational wealth mission through cultural production — as a film and theater producer whose work has been featured at the Chelsea Film Festival, the Rave Theater Festival, and Off-Broadway stages, and as a published author with Kensington Books. These creative endeavors serve the same purpose: preserving cultural identity and inspiring the next generation to think in terms of legacy.

He holds an International MBA in Sustainability & Environmental Compliance from Southern New Hampshire University and a BS in Innovation & Entrepreneurship from Clarkson University.

Abdul carries a rich heritage with familial ties to both American and African leadership — a lineage that informs his perspective but does not define it. His work speaks for itself.

Cultural Production

Abdul is a film and theater producer whose creative career began with the independent production of Look What a Wonder at St. Marks Church In-the-Bowery in 2018. That production led to his meeting Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj, which in turn led to Abdul joining Rebel Theater out of Brooklyn as Chair of the Board and Executive Producer, contributing to Off-Broadway productions. His film work includes the short film Expiration Date, which premiered at the Chelsea Film Festival in 2023. Through media and storytelling, he supports narratives that elevate diverse voices, explore cultural identity, and challenge conventional perspectives.

He views storytelling as a strategic instrument of influence — one capable of shaping dialogue, inspiring change, and preserving history for future generations.

Look What a Wonder

Abdul's First Production • 2018 • Independent • Sold Out

Look What a Wonder — A Narrated Concert Performance was Abdul's introduction to theater and the production that launched his creative career. Written and composed by Walter Robinson, the composer and writer, the show premiered on October 21, 2018 at St. Marks Church In-the-Bowery in New York City — and sold out.

Produced independently by Abdul, the production was endorsed by Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of the Public Theater — a powerful validation for his entry into the world of cultural production.

It was through this production that Abdul met Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj, a connection that would lead to Abdul joining Rebel Theater out of Brooklyn as Chair of the Board and Executive Producer — opening the door to the Off-Broadway productions that followed.

“A story…that needs to be told and retold to our children and to all Americans.”

Theater

Sweet Lorraine

Abdul served as Associate Producer on Sweet Lorraine — a powerful play exploring the friendship between Lorraine Hansberry and James Baldwin, centered on their final conversation in the hospital before she passed. Produced with Rebel Theater out of Brooklyn.

The play had its world premiere at the prestigious Rave Theater Festival at Teatro Latea in New York City in August 2019. During the festival run, James Baldwin was portrayed by Christopher Augustin, with Tony & Grammy Award-nominee Valisia LeKae (Motown: The Musical, The Book of Mormon) as Lorraine Hansberry.

The production later partnered with Stand Up to Cancer and the Equity in the Arts and Culture Committee of the Brooklyn NAACP for a special virtual fundraiser on World Pancreatic Cancer Day (November 19, 2020). For this benefit, Daniel J. Watts took on the role of James Baldwin opposite Valisia LeKae reprising her role as Lorraine Hansberry. LeKae also served as executive producer of the benefit — a deeply personal cause given her own ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2013.

The donation-based performance was streamed live on Playbill's YouTube channel, with funds raised benefiting both Stand Up to Cancer and the Brooklyn NAACP's Equity in the Arts and Culture Committee.
